Specifications for Road Construction Surveys

TASAMM (Transport Authorities Surveying and Mapping Managers) is comprised of the chief surveyors of road authorities throughout Australia.  In 2005 a member association of TASAMM, the Roads and Traffic Authority of New South Wales (RTA), developed its Quality Assurance Specifications for Road Construction Surveys (G71).  The RTA also developed an accompanying set of guidelines to support G71 - these guidelines were called NG71.

In recognition of the significance of these two documents, ICSM immediately began discussions with TASAMM with the vision of establishing them as a national standard for road construction surveys.  ICSM already had a national standard for control surveys (Special Publication 1 - Standards and Practices for Control Surveys).  In 2007 ICSM and TASAMM commenced reviewing all three documents to assess their compatibility with each other.  Very little change was needed and the work is now completed.  All three documents can be accessed via these hyperlinks:

  • G71   Quality Assurance Specifications for Road Construction Surveys (G71)   (.pdf format, 0.3 MB)

  • NG71   Guide to G71, Quality Assurance Specifications for Road Construction Surveys (NG71)   (.pdf format, 1.8 MB)

  • SP1   Standards and Practices for Control Surveys (SP1)     (.pdf file, 4.2 MB)
